A Perfect Day Boat Trip from Punat, Krk Island
A Perfect Day on the Adriatic
Imagine a full day on the Adriatic Sea — crystal-clear waters, secret caves, golden beaches, rare wildlife, and fresh seafood on remote islands.
Today, we’ll take you on an unforgettable boat trip starting from Punat, on the island of Krk, through some of the Adriatic’s most beautiful hidden spots.
Starting Point: Punat
Our journey begins in Punat, one of the most popular marinas on Krk. It’s a picturesque town, famous for its bay and one of the largest marinas in the Adriatic. From here, boats head out daily, and ours will take us through some of the best-kept secrets of the Kvarner region.
Stop 1: Plavnik Island and the Griffon Vultures
Our first destination is Plavnik Island, a small, uninhabited island just southwest of Krk. What makes it special is its population of Griffon Vultures — one of the largest bird species in Europe. With wingspans reaching almost three meters, watching them glide over the cliffs is breathtaking. They are endangered and protected, and Plavnik is one of the rare places where they still thrive.
Stop 2: Krušćica Bay on Cres Island
Next, we sail towards Cres Island, into the secluded Krušćica Bay. This hidden paradise is surrounded by untouched nature, with no hotels or buildings in sight. The crystal-clear sea makes it perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or simply floating in silence.
Stop 3: The Blue Cave (Love Cave)
On our way back to Plavnik, we stop at the famous Blue Cave, also called the Love Cave. The entrance is hidden and only accessible by swimming. Inside, sunlight filters through underwater openings, turning the sea into a glowing blue lagoon. A tiny beach inside makes it a romantic and magical spot.
Stop 4: Golden Bay Beach
We continue towards Krk Island to discover the stunning Golden Bay Beach. Surrounded by tall golden cliffs and accessible only by boat, this beach feels like a private paradise. The contrast between the golden rocks and turquoise sea is simply spectacular.
Stop 5: Sveti Grgur Island and Lunch at Arta Restaurant
After so much adventure, it’s time to recharge at Sveti Grgur Island. Once a place of history, today it is a peaceful oasis where you can enjoy fresh seafood and traditional Croatian specialties at Arta Restaurant. The island is also home to friendly deer that freely roam around.
Stop 6: Vela Luka Beach
Next, we head back towards Krk to visit Vela Luka Beach — one of the island’s most beautiful and unspoiled bays. Surrounded by green hills, with smooth pebbles and crystal-clear water, it’s the perfect place to relax, swim, or snorkel.
Dolphins and Sunset at Košljun Island
On the way back, we’re often lucky to be joined by dolphins, jumping and playing alongside the boats. As the day ends, we return to Punat Bay, passing by the peaceful Košljun Island. The sunset paints the sky with orange, pink, and purple — the perfect ending to a perfect day.
Conclusion
This boat trip is more than just a journey. It’s a chance to explore untouched nature, hidden beaches, rare wildlife, and the pure beauty of the Adriatic Sea. If you’re visiting Krk Island, don’t miss the chance to experience this adventure — after all, there’s no better way to discover Croatia than from the sea.
Tip: Expenses depend on the type of vessel you choose, making it a flexible adventure for all travelers.
